FAST NU Network Unification Terms

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 16 July 2026

FAST NU is an academic archive for FAST‑NUCES students — past papers, study material, faculty details, an AI study tutor, and a GPA planner. This policy explains what data the app handles and why.

FAST NU is an independent, student-made app and is not affiliated with or endorsed by FAST‑NUCES. Please also read our Terms of Service.

By using FAST NU you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

a) Account information. If you create an account or sign in, we process the email address and display name you provide (via Firebase Authentication). If you add a profile picture, campus, or degree program, we store those to personalize the app.

b) Content you submit. If you upload past papers or study material to the community archive, that content — and the fact that you uploaded it (including your user ID and email, sent with the submission) — is stored on public GitHub repositories and made publicly available to other users. Do not upload material you do not have the right to share (see our Terms of Service).

c) AI tutor queries. Questions you ask the in‑app AI tutor (“Genie”) are sent through our processing service to Google’s Gemini AI to generate a response. Do not include sensitive personal information in tutor questions. AI responses are generated automatically and may be inaccurate or incomplete — verify important information independently.

d) Usage & diagnostics (automatic). We use Google Firebase to collect:

e) On‑device only. The document scanner (OCR) processes images on your device. Scanned images are not uploaded by this feature.

We do not sell your personal information.

2. How we use information

3. Data sharing & third‑party services

We share data only with the service providers that make the app work:

We may disclose information if required by law.

4. Data retention & deletion

We keep account and profile data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and associated personal data at any time from within the app (Settings → Account & data), or by emailing us (see Contact). Crash and anonymous analytics data are retained per Google Firebase’s standard retention settings.

5. Security

We rely on Google Firebase’s security infrastructure to protect data in transit and at rest, enforced by server-side security rules (so you can only access your own records) and app-integrity attestation (Firebase App Check). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

6. Children’s privacy

FAST NU is intended for university students. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

7. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to certain processing. Contact us to exercise these rights.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
